Mmmm wrong about the tax base.

The infamous memo of doom that was so offensive last school board meeting had the numbers in there about the money from the power plant as I recall. I can't remember for sure but I was thinking, even with breaks I'm sure it will get, it was at least 1/2 a million dollars.

This goes on with nearly everything that comes into the area. I remember the protests about having those super max prisons in the area too, because it would put the public at risk.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

It all comes down to NIMBY. How many of the people protesting the power plant even know where St Paul or Virginia City is?

Hell, I'd wager that half the damned fools in Blacksburg and Charlottesville have never been west of I-77.

OH TEH NOES!!11!!! POWER PLANT IS DA DEBBIL!

I really think it will end up being built but there are obvious health side effects. It's debate as to whether or not these outweigh the economic benefit.

well maybe it is because Charlottesville and blacksburg are going to feel the effects of this power plant. what makes this area great and those cities is that you can breath in them. but i don't guess u think that breathing clean air is not that important.

    Re: Wise County Power Plant

Obviously there are some side effects. For instance the spill at Corbo killed off mussels. Now, it's up to each individual to decide whether thats important to them or not.
